Becoming AWEAR
In the summer of 2018 after a weekend's gateway in the northern BC woods and while exploring a moment with the not-quite-yet legalized BC bud, I had an idea that revolutionized my mind.
I was watching a video interview with some people I knew in South Africa, who lived on a farm, and where people all over the world went to connect and engage in the topic of World Equality and What's Best for All.
The guy on camera had a printed tee about some random brand/design, and it hit me: We could use clothing to impulse very specific messages, insights, principles, realizations—anything that could support others in awakening to their greater awearness, which can lead to our collective oneness and equality and a world that is best for everyone.
I was so excited by the idea, but more so from this new perspective and experience I was having of what was possible for me... having my own business? Doing my own thing? Taking initiative on an idea that I thought was good? This was all quite new and expansive thinking for me (I went a good chunk of my life thinking quite low of myself). For a moment, I felt the power of my potential.
It was all new but I soon reached out to some friends to get some feedback and also in talking with my husband who was adamant about working for himself, I was encouraged to go for it.
However, after diving into the practical reality and technicalities of it all, it didn't go anywhere. I wasn't quite ready to leap.
Let's jump to 6 years later, the fall of 2024, and I am 2 months post-partum with my 2nd baby, letting go of a water business that I was so gun-ho about (another blog post explaining all of that to come!) and I am doing some laundry when the idea hits me again.
I was looking at the point of how I have always told the story that I am "not fashionable" and wanted to get some key pieces in my wardrobe to finally stop that story and wear clothing that more represented and expressed me as who I was within.
That's when the point opened up again... clothing with the message that matters to me. Pieces that I want to wear but with a greater purpose of saying something very specific.
Fashion that matters.
The same enthusiasm and excitement came in this moment and the only difference between now and the last time this idea came to me was now I had almost 2 years of experience building an online business. I already accepted the idea that I could own my own business and I can utilize social media to expand my reach but now I had something I was truly passionate about.
My awearness has grown exponentially since the first time I ever asked myself, "Who am I" and "Why am I here" and this feels like I am coming full circle to knowing/answering for real who I am and why I am here.
And this is what I want to share.
I am passionate about our full potential, awearness, and capacity for peace. I know how empowered we are and I can see how long we've allowed our suffering due to ignorance and just not knowing any better.
That's why I am so excited to share AWEAR and all the pieces I've created and will create... the more people that wear AWEAR, the more the message and vision get out there: We are fully capable of creating Peace on Earth. By recognizing our Oneness and responsibility to its creation, we can support each other to re-member our unique place in this incredible expression of Life.
You are the Missing Piece to World Peace (to be put on some clothes soon!)
It's been a while since I've shared such lengthy writing online, so I am feeling a bit rusty but it does feel good to be back - to express myself so thoroughly.
Of course, it's just the beginning. The first step can always be the hardest but I am also AWEAR of what it takes to get good at something; how to refine and become more specific... practice. Just doing it over and over and over again, getting stronger and stronger with each application.
I have full faith in this process and am eager to share more.
Thank you for reading me, and being here and if you resonate with my story or AWEAR's purpose, I encourage you to buy yourself a piece and be a piece to World Peace. 1+1+1 until it's done :)
Until next time
